I just wanted to publicly thank the Cab Driver that bought me home last night. I left my wallet in the back seat accidentally and he EXTREMELY kindly drove back to my house this afternoon to give it back, completely untouched! I am sorry not to have had anything on me to give him at the time, but i just wanted to say such a massive thank you, and if anyone knows how best to track him down i would be really grateful as i did not manage to get his details!
send a letter to the editor at Taxi newspaper. He will publish it.
We are not all angels, far from it, but it is nice to be acknowledged when one of us is seen to do something right.
I once found an expensive fountain pen and a cell phone in the back of my cab.
Scrolling through the contact list I found "home" and on making the call found myself talking to the owner's husband in St. Albans
I gave him my cell phone number and asked for his address in order to return the items, stressing that I wanted no reward as I recalled my old mum's adage, "you should not expect to be rewarded for doing the right thing."
He sent me a cheque for £20.00 leaving the payee section blank.
I filled in The Cancer Research Fund and mailed it back to him.
A few days later my wife received a box of chocolates, at this point I gave in and called it a draw.
