Our profiteering government is striking again.
Congestion charge on scooters in London.
My God! Why is it every single thing that we do in this country is heavily taxed. As if we dont already pay enough for fuel (78.9% tax levy on that too) and also road tax, tax on servicing, tax on MOT tax on bloomin everything, they also have the cheek to charge us congestion charges too, parking charges....it goes on and on.
We are now facing a huge global issue, global warming. This is the top 5 governmental issues globally.
And we have individuals getting to work quicker, and less polluting and all the goverment can think about is charging us for it.
Not "Well Done" for reducing the carbon footprint, but a "cough up son.....again!"
Where the hell do they get off? Its big news what we should be doing regarding the carbon footprint, incidentally the government have been ignoring the warnings of what is now happening for over twenty years. Now it is their job to ensure the next generation and generations after that have a decent planet to live on, and all they can think of is charging us for it.
Its pathetic, its profiteering, its theiving, justifiable thieving (to them). I am almost certain Dick Turpin wore a mask.
Government, scrap the idea of a congestion charge. Promote the fact they wont be one for scooters, or cycles or motorbikes or electric scooters. Now THAT would be helping the planet, not forcing us back into cars or buses that takes us 2 hours to get somewhere half hour away. Help us to help you to help reduce the carbon footprint. In Gods name see sense not the pound sign.

I,d really like to hear other peoples views.

It's all about generating revenue, and always has been.

If they were truly serious about environmental issues, job one would be reducing the world's population or at least setting another target that they could fail to achieve. Unless someone grasps that nettle, we can see the whole thing for the sham that it is.

Just wait till the new world order introduce a carbon tax on us all.

This was always going to happen. The congestion charge, by nature of it being a punitive tax, would paradoxically only be a success if the revenue it raised decreased. So to keep it running they have to periodically extend it scope or increase the price.
