Transport & travel

I've noticed for the past year central London tube stations closing every entrance/exit early because they can't be bothered to wait until the last train has left. This is pure laziness by tube station staff. Often 7 our of 8 exits are piccadilly station are closed early, sometimes with tubes still running for another 15 minutes. They dont even put signs up telling you that the station is still open. Many times i've tried to catch the last train, gotten to a tube station with 10 mins till the last tube and guess what..it's closed. Lots of tourists and othecustomers who live in london then end up having to look for night buses to get home, not knowing there are still tubes runing and the staff have just decided to close up early so they can get home without making any effort to close the station after the last tube has departed. This is pure laziness. I thought it was just tube drivers who were greedy and useless but the station staff are all the same. It's about what's suitable for THEM and not the travelling public who are charged outrageous prices to travel on the tube. We the customers pay their wages but are treated like cattle and worse don't even have proper unobstructed access to stations.

Last week I spend 7 minutes looking for an entrance that was actually open only to find that when I finanally did get down to the platforms the next train wasn't for 12 minutes. this is ridiculous! I asked the staff why they do this and was told 'officially' the excuse to give is 'loiterers'. which is just a pile of CRAP! The unofficial excuse is the station manager and staff all want to get home quickly and can't be bothered to go around locking the doors afterwards.

Their fake shamefull excuses are really pathetic and typical of their attitude towards customers. take our money and give us rubbish 'service'. if you can even call it that.

I've asked this a number of times to people who come on here to rant - did you make an official complaint?

Give them the time, location, description of circumstance, who you spoke to and what answer they gave you. Copy Boris Johnson. If you're not satisfied with the answer you receive, go back to them with why you are not satisfied. Copy the Mayor''s office again.

You are right that the "loiterers" excuse is rubbish. So there may be people who have to be cleared out of the station after the last train has left. Yeah, well, that's part of the job. Get on with it.

Shops routinely have to deal with this problem and they dont shut early. They may close one door, or stand a security guard at the door as its approaching closing time. But you can still get in.

You're right that its not good enough. But please tell me you have complained officially, not just ranted on here.
