Why is my 5 months pregnant wife never offer a seat on the underground?

Society is failing and so are TFL for not strongly enforcing this. We all see every day the old infirm, Pregnant and young toddlers standing and being buffeted push around on London transport systems.

It does not need to be this way.

Give a seat to those more in need should not be a chore ut a privilege

"I'd rather see a pregnant woman standing than a fat woman crying" Jimmy Carr.

One of these would do the trick if they are still available.

I've seen pregnant women offered seats on the tube, as well as the elderly and infirm. On Friday two people jumped up similtanously as a disabled woman got on the tube.

I'll grant you it doesn't happen every time. Though sometimes the apparently able bodied person sitting isn't able bodied.

As to toddlers I was brought up to stand for an adult. You never saw a kid sitting when an adult was standing years ago.

I get the impression some people are so affraid of drawing attention to themselves they'd rather just pretend they havnet seen it. Not sure its out right evil.

The worst I have seen is a really old man with walking stick and blind, no a 888ker moved - unbelievable!

Agree 100%, but that's not what the Instant Gratification society is about. If I see someone preggo or in need of a seat, I'll offer them mine if I'm fortunate enough to have one. But too many people just do not seem to have or want to have an awareness of anything beyond their own selfish selves. A work colleague told me once of how she stood up to offer a seat to an older woman and some idiot nipped in and sat down on the seat!

I sympathise, but has she tried asking? When I was first pregnant and commuting on the Tube I was sometimes offered a seat. If I wasn't I simple asked if anyone was willing to offer me one. It never failed to get me a seat.

In a perfect world a seat would be offered everytime, but unfortunately we are all different, and many get absorbed in their books and games to shut out the tedium of the daily underground commute. You may think that's no excuse but it's reality.

If your wife asks then I am certain she'll be offered a seat, and even get a choice of which one to take!
